Carney is a 4-piece band based in Los Angeles, CA who sounds like a born-again Led Zeppelin mixed with the almost grittiness of down home rooted blues. Their explanation is best put in the words of lead singer and co-front man Reeve Carney who says, "We try to make music that's timeless, Our music is an array of various styles drawn from rock, folk, reggae to blues", their music can bring a man to think of anyone and everyone from John Lennon and Jeff Buckley to Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd. I could only find one song so I'd highly suggest buying their album.

Girl Talk
Girl Talk's new album, Feed The Animals, is available for download. Here's the crazy part, you get to pick your price. Isn't that the most original thing you've ever heard in your life? (Sarcasm) Wonder where he got the idea. . .
Regardless, Hey, free CD. Unless of course you want some extra stuff, and we all know you do, then you gotta pay extra.
For $5 or more, you get your choice of FLAC or Mp3 encoding plus an added, extra long file with all the tracks connected into one. Cool, but you can do that yourself, this just saves time.
For $10, you get the above, plus a physical copy of the disk when it comes out.
and for $500, you get a date with Gregg Gillis himself. Trust me, even though it doesn't say that, its true.*
*Do not trust me. . .it isn't true. All lost money is the sole responsibility of the person and not that of Eskimo Music.
Anyways, the Downloads available Here
Man Man
Somewhere, in the underbellies of the town of Philadelphia, a group of friends assembled, each of them with equally ridiculous names;HONUS HONUS
SERGEI SOGAY
POW POW
CRITTER CRAT
CHANG WANG
and
JEFFERSON.
together, they form the musical genius that is Man Man. As well as using basic instruments, such as the guitar, the bass, the drums, the horns, and the piano, they dwell in the dark arts of Cap Guns, Hammers, Kitchen and Cookware, and kazoos.
When the Man Man performs live, it does not stop for anyone, No. It dresses in all white and covers it self in war paint. It's songs are a continuous vomit of pure raw energy, so powerful not even the creator himself can stop it.
Today, Man Man sits and waits. There new album, Rabbit Habbits, released by Anti Records, is believed to be there best yet. With such hits as "Top Drawer" and "Big Trouble" One cannot help but believe the album was forged by Satan himself.
In all honesty, Man Man is fantastic. You should check them out. :D

Apes & Androids
Apes and Androids is a band that I feel has not received nearly enough attention, their crazy over the top bombastic style of music should be well recognized and appreciated. Their new CD Blood Moon can't even be found on Amazon.com or any local record store. The only place I've actually located a hard copy of this gem is on their own website, here. Listen to the tracks, and if you like them as much as I do, buy the CD. Yes this is one of those rare occasions where supporting the band is a very very good idea, the last group these guys put together, Call Florence Pow, was equally good but it seems that they fell through, sadly you cant even get most of their CDs anymore. So if you're ready to listen to what can only be described as Queen and David Bowie fighting a robot army apocalypse with the powers of funk and electro to the backdrop of some otherworldly rock opera, download now. Also, from what I've read, they put on some seriously wild shows.Apes & Androids - Make Forever Last Forever

The Silent Comedy

Alright so Sunday at the Fest seeing Flogging Molly and MGMT was cool and all but the real story would be the fantastic local bands that played on the side stage. One in particular that truely blew me away was the San Diego natives, The Silent Comedy.
Seeing The Silent Comedy was like watching 7 people drunk on whiskey brought forward in time from the 1920's to play a mix of Alternative, Southern, Gospel, Folk Rock with enough energy to fuel several atomic bombs, if atomic bombs were fueled by pure rock adrenaline. Watching them was like watching an old movie, if you want to be so blunt, a silent comedy. The "actor" completely offer took they're implied persona's and put on a kickass show.
Not one person in the crowd stopped dancing at any moment during the 20 glorious minutes these guys played. As soon as they finished, they're CD's sold out in a matter of minutes.
If you live in the San Diego area, be sure to check these guys out. Trust me, the CD does not live up to the pure raw energy these guys emit live.
As of know, I don't have any MP3's for everybody, but I will soon. Just hold tight.

Cold War Kids & The Ting Tings
Along with seeing Flogging Molly this Sunday, quite a few other bands will be playing including some of my personal favorites, Cold War Kids and The Ting Tings.
The Ting Tings - Shut Up and Let Me Go
The Ting Tings - Be The One
I'm excited to see both of these bands live on Sunday, and neither is likely to disappoint, but could they throw a better show than headliner Flogging Molly? Unlikely, but I'll just have to see for myself.
Cold War Kids is fairly traditional rock music made interesting with a more old time sound that comes from the discord of harmony they create with their instruments, lead singer Nathan Willett's voice also adds something different to the band as it verges upon all out screaming and blasphemy at times, however never goes too far as to ruin a song, only immerse it with his own emotion.
Cold War Kids - Hang Me Up To Dry
Cold War Kids - Hospital Beds
The Ting Tings mix girl-rock and electropop together for a very catchy and peppy sound, probably known best for the song "Shut Up and Let Me Go" featured on one of the most recent iPod commercials, the same fun sound pervades throughout their debut record as well.Cold War Kids - Hang Me Up To Dry

Flogging Molly

I'm going to see Flogging Molly on Sunday and decided we need a little bit of Irish Spirit up in this here . . .uh. . .place.
Nothing new or exciting, just some crazy, fantastic tunes that will have you jiggin' all night and day, fightin' blokes and treatin' shinners with crazy steak cures whilst eating yer bangers and mash.
Mmm. . . Bangers and Mash. . .
